2020 iQIYI iCartoonFace Challenge (Until May 14 ,2020)
iQIYI, We hold the iQIYI iCartoonFace Challenge jointly with IJCAI PRICAI 2020. Nowadays, the cartoon industry has witnessed explosive growth. A huge amount of cartoon videos are being produced every year. Therefore, understanding the identity information of the cartoon characters is getting more essential for analyzing cartoon videos automatically. To facilitate the research in the related areas, we hold the iCartoonFace Challenge.
With the availability of numerously large datasets, deep-learning-based approaches have made remarkable progress in the field of face recognition and surpassed human-level performance. As we all know, the performance of these deep learning approaches rely heavily on the annotation of large-scale training datasets. In the less-explored task of cartoon character recognition, related datasets can be roughly grouped into two categories. One is the caricature dataset, whose identities are fundamentally based on real human portraits but are exaggerated with certain facial features. Another category focuses on the cartoon character recognition task. However, these datasets are either too small or too noisy hence do not meet the demand of large-scale training data for deep learning approaches. Therefore, a large-scale, challenging cartoon person dataset is beneficial to related entertainment applications.
In our challenge, we provide the largest manually annotated cartoon face detection dataset and the largest manually annotated cartoon face recognition dataset as far as we know.
Challenge task
Task A: iCartoonFace Detection Challenge
The goal of the iCartoonFace Detection Challenge is as follows: Given an image, the task is to give the detection bounding boxes of all cartoon faces in the image.
Task B: iCartoonFace Recognition Challenge
The goal of the iCartoonFace Recognition Challenge is as follows: Given a probe image and a gallery containing at least one image of the same cartoon character, the task is to rank all the images in the gallery set by similarities. And the retrieval result list should be ordered according to the similarity between each test image and the query.
