WETA DIGITAL: WAR OF THE PLANET OF THE APES
Fan of the acclaimed Planet of the Apes trilogy? Don’t miss Weta Digital’s session: War of the Planet of the Apes presented by Dan Lemmon, VFX Supervisor of Weta Digital. In this talk, you will discover the advanced VFX and motion capture techniques Weta Digital used to achieve the next level realistic animation masterpiece.

RODEO FX: GAME OF THRONES + COLOUR MANAGEMENT IN VFX
This year, Rodeo FX comes to effects MTL17 with a highly anticipated session: The VFX in Game of Thrones. Thomas Montminy Brodeur, Compositing Supervisor and Patrice Poissant, CG supervisor will walk us through the process behind the creation of the VFX in the 4th season of Game of Thrones.

DOUBLE NEGATIVE: THE MUMMY: LIGHTING IN FX DRIVEN SHOW + SURFACING PIPELINE
For Lighting artists, make sure to attend Double Negative’s session: The Mummy: Lighting in the FX Driven Show presented by Albert Szostkiewicz, CG Sequence Supervisor. Albert will talk about the method of creating a streamline effects-lighting ecosystem using the Houdini package.
This year, Double Negative and Allegorithmic join forces to present the session: Double Negative’s Surfacing Pipeline: a Matter of Substance? Zoe Cranley (DNEG) and Wes McDermott (Allegorithmic) will talk about how Substance Designer and Substance Automation Toolkit help redefining texture / look development pipeline at Double Negative.

MPC: MANAGING THE HOLOGRAM OF GHOST IN THE SHELL
The holograms in Ghost in the Shell define a unique aesthetic to the film and the sci-fi genre itself. Damien Fagnou, CTO of MPC will talk about the production and technical challenges of managing the holograms.

DIGITAL DIMENSION: MAKING ZAFARI, THE FIRST ANIMATED TV SHOW MADE WITH UNREAL ENGINE
Pierre Blaizeau, Head of Technologies and Peter Skovsbo, Executive Producer at Digital Dimension will present Making Zafari, the First Animated TV Show Made with Unreal Engine. This talk will explore the integration of Epic Games’ Unreal Engine into the studio’s linear pipeline.

PIXOMONDO: EXPLOSIVE RACES AND CAR CHASES – PIXOMONDO ON THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS
Mahmoud Rahnama, VFX Supervisor and Manager of Pixomondo‘s Toronto office, will talk about the studio’s involvement in the latest Fast and Furious movie and how they tackled massive water simulations, crowd sims, full CG aerials and more.

MOTHERSHIP VFX: THE LANDSCAPE OF THE VFX IN THE PHILIPPINES
Last but not the least, Dave Yu, CEO and founder of Mothership VFX will explain the landscape of VFX projects in the Philippines and how it is very different from other countries. Dave will be discussing the challenges in their projects and presenting case studies.
