The Last Kingdom is a British historical fiction television series set in the late 9th century AD when England is divided into seven separate kingdoms. The Anglo-Saxon lands are gradually attacked, plundered, and ruled by the Viking Danes. The Kingdom of Wessex remains the last major stronghold battling against the Danes.

The show was a continued close collaboration between BlueBolt and Carnival Films to help create the Dark Age world in which the series is set. BlueBolt has worked on all four seasons since it first aired in 2015 providing environment work to turn Budapest into period Britain, CG battling armies and horses, CG ships at sea and plenty of gore.
