5 Day Sketch to Screen Model Making with Jim Parkyn via Zoom (28th September – 2nd October 2020)

Aardman Academy, A five day course in which participants are guided through the process of model making, beginning with a K&S wire armature and finishing with a fully completed model. Cost: £500 per person, plus VAT.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Students (18 years and above), graduates or freelancers who are looking to develop their model making skills and receive feedback from a professional.

DESCRIPTION

The course begins with the participant’s pre-prepared designs being individually assessed by Jim Parkyn. A wire armature is then assembled and cored. Once the armature is finished, cladded and dressed, the model is assembled and head and hands are made. Jim will help participants draw out the unique characteristics of their model with finishing touches such as hair and facial features and Nancy Jones will guide participants on how to make costumes for their models.

Each participant will have one on one feedback from Jim or Nancy a minimum of once a day.

SCHEDULE

Each day will run from 9:30 GMT until 17:30 GMT.

Jim will begin the first three days with a live demonstration at 9:30am and will follow this with another at 2pm, he will also do this on the fifth and final day.

On days three and four, Nancy Jones will do live demonstrations, also at 9.30am and 2pm, and Jim will be in attendance for both afternoons for personal, one-on-one feedback.

Throughout the five days, participants will be able to watch a series of how-to video demos to help them along with their build.

COST

COST: £500 per person, plus VAT @ 20% = £600

£100 plus VAT for materials (this covers basic materials, anything specific to the design of the model will need to be supplied by participant).

WHEN & WHERE

09:30 – 17:30, Monday 28th September – Friday 2nd October 2020.

This course will be run via Zoom so participants can work from home. An invite will be sent out on the day.

HOMEWORK

Participants will be asked to submit a dimension specific human-shaped design for their puppet 2 weeks prior to the course.
