What does the idea of empowerment mean to you?

The idea of empowerment to me is being able to have options. Being able to choose a path and follow one’s passions. I’ve always wanted to work in film and television. I feel very fortunate that I have people in my life who have always supported me. It’s important to advocate for yourself, and when you have others who believe in your dreams, anything is possible.

What will be your dream project to work on?

My dream project would be to work on a Martin Scorsese film.

What influential women do you admire the most?

I admire Emily Carr (1871-1945). She is one of Canada’s best known artists and is notable for her ability to forge a career as an artist within a patriarchal society. Carr was one of very few women artists in this period who rejected domestic scenes to seek out subjects with challenging political and ecological themes and cultural significance. Her work influenced how the West Coast has been imagined and expressed by subsequent generations of artists.

How has your experience been working at Pixomondo?

It’s been great! I’m surrounded by some of the most creative, hard working and talented people who consistently inspire me. I can’t think of a better place to be.

What advice would you give to women who wish to get into this industry?

My advice to women who want to get into this industry is to “go for it”. As with anything in life, work hard and it will pay off. Reach out to as many people as you can in the industry and make the connections, apply for the positions, keep learning and never give up. You won’t regret it!

What is your International Women’s Day Greetings message?

Happy Women’s Day to all the incredible women! Shine on…. Not just today but everyday!

We would like to thank Shae Salmon for the great interview, and if you like to know more about her, check out her .
