Today, Sylwia Slusarczyk, Platige Image talks to VFX Online about her experience as a woman working in the VFX and Animation industry.

// From Sylwia Slusarczyk, Animation and Post-Production Producer, Platige Image

How do you describe yourself professionally?

I am a senior post production producer in the commercial department. I would describe myself as dedicated individual who excels in teamwork.

What sparked your interest in visual effects?

As a producer, I try to strike a balance between creating art that is marketable. I love solving problems and creating something original and fresh, but also solves a problem with the brand.

How did you enter in this industry?

I began my career working in a film studio in Poland; where I had the opportunity to learn the business from many great technicians and artists in every stage of production and post.

My curiosity and commitment to hard work was noticed, resulting in a promotion to post production coordinator.

What does the idea of empowerment mean to you?

Being trust worthy, working responsibly and looking out for one another is how I empower the people around me. I believe that empowerment leads to a healthy work environment and a better understanding of one another.

When we all can empower each other, we collectively com eat a project with confidence and a positive outlook as to how make the best product we can.

What is it like to be a professional, working woman in your line of work?

It’s great. I feel confident and at the right place.

Which is your favorite film in VFX and Animation and why?

There is so many of them. It’s really hard to choose just one. In general, I like visually magical pictures and emotional, powerful stories. For example, the feature animation film “Coco”. In the animation world, there are almost an infinite possibility of ideas and simple truths that can speak to any audience, any generation.

Which influential woman do you admire the most?

Reese Witherspoon. She does a lot for women and tries very hard to make a positive change. In her case, it’s not only about talking but it’s about taking a real action. She is a part of many great projects, not only as an actor but also as a producer, and what is the best about her is that she invites other women to join her. She is a hard worker and a living example of the successful, talented and honest women in film industry.

What do you think about less woman nominated for Oscar/VES/BAFTA or any other?

I think this is a process and it takes time to change the huge industry that was shaped to be a male dominated industry from the beginning. Women just have to keep doing great job, speak out and most importantly, support each other in the professional field. I am confident that we will be seeing a change in this issue very soon.

We would like to thank Sylwia Slusarczyk for the great interview, and if you like to know more about her, check out her .
