The International Animated Film Association (Association Internationale du Film d’Animation) (ASIFA)
ASIFA (Association Internationale du Film d’Animation) was founded in 1960 in Annecy, France as an association of individual animation artists. Today ASIFA can be described as an international network of numerous local ASIFA Chapters, which have developed their own local identities and special activities. These ‘local’ ASIFA Chapters send their representatives to the ASIFA Board. The key board positions, including President, Vice-Presidents, General Secretary, Treasurer and all additional functionaries are elected for three years by the ASIFA Board. All ASIFA Members can participate in the democratic decision processes through their chapter representatives and the ASIFA General Assembly.

The Animation Guild (TAG)
The Animation Guild is Local 839 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE). We are a labor organization that represents animation and visual effects artists. We do for our members what every labor organization does: negotiate wage minimums and working conditions, provide pension and health benefits (specifically through the Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plan) and act as an advocate for our members over disputes between employees and employers. VFX IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees)
The IATSE is the largest behind-the-scenes union in the entertainment industry. We represent motion picture and television production technicians, broadcast technicians, scenic artists, designers, animators, editors, wardrobe attendants, makeup artists, hair stylists, stage hands, and a host of others. These workers are organized into local unions by craft and geography. There are over 380 local unions in the United States and Canada. The members of the local unions of the IATSE govern their individual organizations. They elect their leaders, determine their internal rules, and establish their local dues structure. The IATSE provides support to the local unions in all these areas.

Animation and Visual Effects Union (AVU)
We are a branch of BECTU, a Union who represents over 40,000 staff, contract and freelance workers in the media and entertainment industries. The branch is run by a democratically elected committee of VFX and Animation workers who volunteer their time to make our industry a better place to work.

Women in Visual Effects is a portrait and video series aimed to highlight and advocate the talented women within the visual effects field of film and television. This series intends to celebrate the many women currently working in the industry. Through their stories and experience, we hope to shatter the normal expectations of women and reach out to inspire future generations of women.
