July 31, 2020 – Alardea, the four-episode miniseries that K 2000 (The Mediapro Studio) produces by EITB, has ended its filming in the Basque Country today, Friday, July 31.
The series, which will premiere this autumn on ETB1, focuses on the story of Amaia (Itziar Ituño), a kindergarten teacher who, together with a group of neighbors, will fight for the right of women to parade in the Alarde of his locality, where only men are allowed to participate.
Freely inspired by a conflict that has been generated for 25 years around this festive parade with important roots in the Basque Country, Alardea raises universal and current issues, such as the clash between generations, the social pressure exerted on the small populations and the struggle of women to achieve the same recognition and visibility as men.
In addition to Itziar Ituño (La casa de papel), Carmen Climent (Cuéntame), Klara Badiola (La fuga de Segovia), Iñigo Aranburu (Handia), Kandido Uranga (Intemperie) and German Alzarazu (El doble) will complete the artistic cast. plus fifteen).
At the helm of the director is David P. Sañudo, a young director who recently surprised with Ane, his feature film debut. Blanca Baena (Caminantes) is the executive producer and the script is composed by Arantxa de la Cuesta and Pablo Tobías, with Virginia Yagüe (La señora) at the helm of the writing process.
Filming, which was paralyzed on March 13 by the state of alarm due to the coronavirus, resumed on July 13, and has lasted three weeks. During this time, access to the filming sets has been restricted to the equipment strictly necessary for production, and safety protocols have been maintained at all times.
To recreate the fictional town of Uriola, where the series is set, Alardea has been recorded entirely in various locations throughout the Basque Country, including Orduña, Zalla, Bakio and Bilbao.
Alardea will be the first of other important Basque fiction bets that ETB is preparing for this new academic year, along with the new season of the youth phenomenon Go! Azen, which will arrive in November, as usual.
Amaia, Edurne and Jone fight for the participation of women in the Alarde.
The life of Amaia (Itziar Ituño) will be turned upside down when the women’s association of Uriola intends to parade in the traditional Alarde. Getting involved in this issue is something that this kindergarten teacher could confront her community and her family. Making a decision will be a big dilemma for her.
The fight also involves Amaia reuniting with her mother Edurne (Klara Badiola), now ill, from whom she distanced herself 25 years ago, after the divorce and subsequent death of her father.
Amaia has never forgiven her mother for putting her involvement in favor of mixed display in the interests of the family. And she is not prepared for the same story to be repeated, precisely in the year that her husband Aitor (Iñigo Aranburu) is appointed mayor and her daughter Jone (Carmen Climent), a bartender.
