The Animation Workshop: Sign Up for the Visual Effects 2020 Course

The Animation Workshop has opened the call for its Visual Effects course, a professional program that includes a semester and that is made up of 17 weeks from August 17 to December 11, 2020. Take advantage of this opportunity and specialize in the fascinating area of special effects.

Visual Effects will allow you to update your knowledge as well as your technical and artistic skills. Throughout this perfectly designed program taking place at VIA University College in Denmark, you will understand everything about channeling visual effects and learn how to create photorealistic digital elements by integrating them into live action images.

Among the professionals who teach are:

Leigh Russell (Consultant to Computer Graphics -CG- at STAR WARS , INTERSTELLAR , THE HUNGER GAMES and HARRY POTTER ).
Giancarlo Gallinoro – To be confirmed (Environment artist in THE KING’MAN , GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, and THOR RAGNAROK ).
Andrew Hodgson – To be confirmed (Hard Surface modeler in STAR WARS : THE RISE OF SKYWALKER , TERMINATOR : DARK FATE and SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY ).
Gianpietro Fabre – To be confirmed (Texture artist at Framestore in London with works on AVENGERS: ENDGAME , ALITA BATTLE ANGEL , WONDER WOMAN and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY ).
Josh Parks – To be confirmed. (VFX Composer Advertising in Motion Picture Company with works in GAME OF THRONES -Episode Three of Season Eight- , MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: FALLOUT and HOLMES & WATSON ).

The software used is: Maya, Nuke, Arnold / V-Ray, Mari, Photoshop, 3D Equalizer, Clarisse and Substance Painter.

With your participation you will have access to :

An intensive course developed with the help of industry professionals.
All the novelties provided by the teachers (they are all active professionals with updated production knowledge).
Practice every day from morning to afternoon.
Your own personal workstation with industry standard software (24 hours a day, seven days a week).
Artistic and didactic material.
A camera crew.
A professional network.
Extracurricular activities such as sports, conferences, parties etc.
17 weeks immersion in a social and creative environment.
Assistance in accommodation and advice on the trip.

Participation fee : 3,400 euros. Does not include accommodation or living expenses.

Scholarships: The Animation Workshop offers scholarships for the participation fee, accommodation or travel to eligible applicants (participants from so-called countries with low production capacity). However, in special cases, participants from other EU countries such as Spain as well as from non-EU countries will also be taken into account. The Animation Workshop may not award a scholarship to all applicants, but they make efforts to assist in any way possible.

Please note that you must send the application form to the course before you can apply for a scholarship. The application deadline for the course and scholarships is the same, so be sure to submit both forms before the deadline. You can request several categories (travel, accommodation or participation fee -partial or full-), but be realistic about what you need. Some applicants rely entirely on a scholarship to be able to attend the course. You will receive an invoice for the full course fee shortly before the course begins. It will be sent as a PDF file attached to the email.
